Educational Games

Hula Hoop
(October 18, 2012)

Have the class make a circle. They should be shoulder to shoulder.
Rules:
Everyone has to be touching at all times.
Each hand has two fingers on the hoop.
At the same time the class lowers the hoop to the ground.
No one can push or pull it down.
This is a great class building exercise. Teachers will be able to assess everyone's attitudes. The class has to work as community. This exercise is harder than it looks. Trust me, I have already tried.

Rover Reporter
(October 4, 2012)

This game is surely entertaining. Divide the class by forming groups with equal number of participants. Each group will have a leader who will monitor the activities that each team member has been assigned with. Every participant will act as a reporter and the group will have to interview different people in school and working authorities to know their job details and responsibilities. You could have one group leader who generates the final report of all the interviews conducted. This way students will come to know the responsibilities and functions of each department of your school. Interacting will people will also improve their communication skills

Game
(October 4, 2012)

To warm up the class, tape a piece of paper under a few chairs. When people walk through the door ask them to check their chairs. If they have the paper they have to answer the questions at the beginning of class. It is a great way to start the day.

Snowball Fight
(October 4, 2010)

Have everyone write on a piece of paper something that describes them, then ball it up, and wait until everyone is finished. When all are done, everyone throws their paper toward the middle of the room. All students pick up one piece of paper and take turns reading them. Each player tries to figure out who wrote it.

Paper Bridge is Falling Down?
(October 4, 2012)

Create a "building kit" with things like paper clips, paper towels, popsicle sticks, and string, and ask them to design a bridge, building, costume, etc… I've done the bridge and we judge them on creativity and strength. We used small stones and kept adding them to the bridge until it collapsed to determine its strength.
